I have been giving thought to the depiction of cocaine use in the Sherlock Holmes stories. Conan Doyle did not dwell on it but, in The Sign of Four, described it some detail.
It has been depicted in many a screen adaptation but, as far as I can tell, only in Victorian-set ones. Most notably, BBC Sherlock skirted around it.
I intend to have it feature in volume two of my Further Memoirs series. This might be considered irresponsible in some quarters but it remains in the originals which are still being bought today. I will not put it out there any more than Conan Doyle did but I consider it something not to be hidden.
